3 without hints (2,5,6) - interesting period! Also, I might be off the mark on this one, but it seems like 1600s films set in America err more towards horror while 1700s films err more towards historical (probably because of the shadow of the Salem Witch Trials).
Hm yes you might be right…I think the exception might be folk horror which, in the UK, is often set during the witch trial era. There’s Witchfinder General, A Field in England…Blood on Satan’s Claw is late 1600s, I think?
when I saw the title of this post, I immediately thought of Lorna Doone. I love the book as well as the 2000 BBC miniseries with Amelia Warner and Richard Coyle. technically not cinema/film, though.
I got 3! Actresses, Pocahontas and Louis XIII! I've been to Pocahontas' grave in Gravesend. I was obsessed with her statue when I was a kid and it was the first film I remember seeing in the cinema. My auntie used to live down there. Good times. I've seen The Witch but couldn't remember for the life of me what animal it was!

I think I’ve put a Lorna Doone question in one of my upcoming quizzes…
I love that version too, the music is gorgeous
9 out of 10 (didn't know question 9)
Definitely the best score by a long way so far, well done Ariel!
4 out of 10! No. 6 was a shock..
Ah yes, a fascinating moment in theatre history!
Can't believe I didn't get the original name question. Not awake today!
They are meant to be tricky!
4 without hints, 5 with. Bit surprised and quite pleased!
Nice one! I think that’s the best so far…
Two with hints…

Nice! I didn’t know about the statue, I always loved her story. Huge fan of The Witch
Just 2. It is a neglected era in film.
And it’s such an interesting period!
