Hm, does "Medusa" count for gorgon? With half points for that, the dragon part of Wyvern, the mermaid part of Fiji mermaid, I have 5.5. The mandrake really threw me for a loop, haha, HP is my only reference. Also does the manticore have a billion teeth or a fancy scarf around its chin? The dainty mustache makes it hard to tell.
I got four and am kicking myself over the wyvern as I should know this from 2 decades of playing Dungeons and Dragons.😁 Wyverns have four limbs (wings and legs), whereas dragons have 6, with an extra pair of arms.
Playing Dungeons and Dragons for over 20 years might only provide a few benefits in life, but one of those few benefits (aside from knowing what crenellation means) is a familiarity with monsters of legend. Number 9 is wonderfully obscure, but it's one of my favorite good creatures from the original Monster Manual thou I know it by its Japanese name Ki-Rin. My love of Wallace and Gromit got me to 9/10.
The one that I missed was the Fiji Mermaid which is a wonderfully horrifying beast.
My wife and I have GOT to get to London in the relatively (in about 2 years) near future. So many museums to see and so much history. Other than as a wee whippersnapper, I've always lived in the US and this is a place where we think of a 75 year old building as ancient and where our Ghost Towns are only 150 years old.
That was fun! My favourite was the Wallace and Gromit Were-rabbit. 6/10. The Qilin and Fiji Mermaid were new to me, and I couldn't recall the names of the other two, despite recognising them! Thanks :)
Eh. I did 5/10. I have a lot to work on. Man, ugh. That manticore. Ugh. I like human bodies with animal heads but animal bodies with human heads really disgust me. Sorry, manticore. I don't want to be anywhere near you. Great post, Rebekah.
Thanks Parker! 5+ is a good score on these quizzes, they are designed to be difficult - I couldn't resist putting in that manticore. Truly the stuff of nightmares!

I have no idea actually, I think they’re probably teeth given how creepy the overall effect seems to be… gotta love a monster with a moustache though!

Wait, does this mean that dragons are insects??
lol, yes, they are very large bugs. We’re gonna need a bigger fly-swatter!
9/10 Got them all except the Wererabbit, never having encountered that beast in the wild.
My fave is the manticore because you think you're going to get your fingernails buffed but actually it's a cryptid not a beauty treatment
Wow well done! Yes it sounds like a holistic medicine gimmick ‘a manicure for the core of your being…’

Excellent work Christian! The Fiji Mermaid is quite the creepy critter, they’ve got one in the Horniman Museum and I’ve ALWAYS wanted one on my desk.

I am even more ignorant of monsters than I realized! Thank you for sharing this quiz. I loved the pictures!
Thanks so much, Margaret, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I didn't pass this test.
But I hope you had fun!
My knowledge here is woefully poor but I did enjoy looking at all the pictures and thinking, “What the hell is that?!!!”
Haha excellent, glad you enjoyed it Lou!
Ah well, 4/10 tbh.
Still very respectable!
6/10 - need to brush up on my dragons, had that one down as a wyrm. Got the were-rabbit, of course!
I think ‘wyrm’ can be used as a catch-all for dragons although I associate it with legless dragons. Definitely half a point awarded for that!

Thanks, James, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I thought putting an ordinary mermaid would be too easy. Gotta love a were-rabbit!

6/10
Really liked 10.
The ultimate beast!
7/10 if I give myself credit for 'Mermaid/Merman'
