Ok so if you had made this a matching game with a name bank I think I would have killed it. No way was I pulling those specific names out of thin air!! But like, of COURSE that was Christopher Marlowe.
What??? Chekhov was hot?? Ok now I have to read him I guess 🥵🥵
Also I remember reading somewhere that when Byron was buried the undertaker remarked that he was extremely well hung (I believe reference was made to a pony...)
The Romantics are all quite interchangeable, aren’t they? They definitely had a shared ‘look'. I didn’t know what Kerouac looked like before compiling this quiz and…wow
Yeah, that note on Melville! I found out way back when upon perusing the book section of a Sunday edition of LA Times, back whrn we used to read the paper in hand, that Melville passionately pursued Nathaniel Hawthorne! Brings new light into high school senior English Lit! 🐳 Who knew his Ahab's dogged purusit of his curiously named whale species (probably it) was more than symbolic! Call me Ishmael, indeed!
7. CAMUS and 9. GOGOL? I couldn't avoid #1 answer and yet I might've had it on tip of my tongue....how about a quiz on which actor could portray which author and I know that John Steinbeck could easily be played by the excellent Clive Owen, if not the late singular actor, Paul Walker, RIP! ... on a lighter note, I'm glad to gain confirmation that Cavill is the "objective" (no need quotes really) reference for your definition. Makes sense across the nerdy/geeky/athletic/renaissance man/gentleman of character board: no use competing on ANY front with the guy!
Oh also I knew exactly who the quote was by and about but I didn't know what they looked like 😂
That counts!

I should do that next time, that’s a good idea!
Kerouac is absolutely edible.
It’s not really fair to other men that he’s that handsome too
Only managed to get Byron and Keats 😅 I thought I knew what Melville and Dickens looked like.. turns out I didn’t lol

That is extremely unprofessional undertaker behaviour...but I have a feeling it's what Byron would have wanted
Sad to see Thomas Pynchon didn’t make the list. Chin up, Thom. There’s always next year.
There are different kinds of beauty!
I was only sure about Kerouac, Marlowe and Kureshi. I wrote Shelley (?) down for at least three of them, and he wasn't in it! 😆

I couldn’t even guess any of these 😂 Really didn’t recognise the youthful Dickens. I guess I assumed he came into the world middle-aged and bearded!
He looks so girlish and innocent!

I know, poor Melville!

Now that could be fun!
Not a single one. I thought Byron was Blackadder for a minute.
Amazing!
Well, clearly I am not reading any of these authors for their looks, as I didn't know any of them, not even poor Dickens!
That's because you're a woman of taste, Sheila - what care you for the beauty of a man's face when the beauty of his soul has so delighted you?
For me, Kerouac and Byron win the beauty contest. 😁
They’re bonnie lads that’s for certain.
I knew it was Jack
Kerouac just by that lovely mouth. I got about 7 including Marlow, but I only fancy Jack.
I see Khaled Hosseini isn't on here? 😅
Oh my he is handsome isn’t he! There were a few I kicked myself for not thinking of after I’d finished. 7 is a highly respectable score.
Ohhh, if only you really existed…
Ok Jack Kerouac is going to be a central figure in my daydream rotation.
My jaw dropped when i first saw that picture.
