I think this post may have been my favorite in your series on Edward Gorey. I love the satire of "The Fantod Pack" and its accompanying booklet. Such delightful bleakness! And the card shuffling instructions are hilarious, yet fitting.

"Gorey has a lot to say about life and death, about culture and pretension, about our relationship with suffering, trauma and abuse, and the role the arts play in repackaging tragedy for entertainment. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and have given my Gorey books a re-read, thanks to you! Can't wait for the mini-series! Will it be...Gothic? or Baroque?

(It’s church architecture so you’re on the money with gargoyles etc. Not all of the examples I explore are in grand churches like cathedrals, but cathedrals definitely feature!)
I love this series so much! I got hooked on the Sopranos edition and was also eagerly awaiting every one in the Edward Gorey series :) I am so looking forward to what you do next, and going back to the earlier series that I missed!
