And I'm convinced my cats (three, going on nine or ten) WOULD try and prevent my demise if only because of the fact they haven't figured out how to use a can opener. I suppose one never really knows, though...
Ooh, I don't recall this story, but how awesome that Gorey obviously was familiar with the depictions of Beëlphazoar! I love the details he puts into his drawings, right down to the pictures on the walls. Nothing is accidental.
Definitely, and I think he had fun with the little scene-within-a scene in part because he couldn’t be bothered to do wallpaper in her house but still wanted to add something fun to look at! Thanks, Sheila!
